There are no other branch, Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU) is located in Shimla district Ghandal and was established in the year 2016, by the Himachal Pradesh Act of 2016. The university has now become a part of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) consortium. The university is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and ranked 5 among NLU’s by CLAT Cutoff list. At present, the university provides students with undergraduate programs, postgraduate programs and doctoral programs. 

The BA LLB (Hons) course is Five-Year Integrated Programme. Under the BA LLB (Hons) programme, students have the option to choose one from, Economics, Political Science, and Sociology, as their ‘major’ courses.

1- Ranking: According to the NIRF ranking of law colleges in India, Nalsar University of Law was ranked 3rd in 2020, while HNLU Raipur was ranked 17th. 

2- Fees: The fee structure for B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) at HNLU Raipur is INR 2,62,000 per annum, while the fee structure for the same program at Nalsar University of Law is INR 2,42,000 per annum. However, the fees may vary depending on the category of the student, the availability of scholarships, and other factors.

3- Admission: Both HNLU Raipur and Nalsar University of Law accept the scores of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) for admission to B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) program. CLAT is a national level entrance exam for law courses, conducted by the 18 participating law schools in rotation. The test consists of objective type questions of a standard expected of 10+2 students and carries a maximum of 200 marks. The candidates who wish to apply for either of the law schools must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 45% marks (40% for SC/ST candidates) and must appear for CLAT. The admission is based on the candidate’s score and rank in CLAT, and the availability of seats under various categories.

4- Placements: According to the placement reports of the law schools, Nalsar University of Law had a higher percentage of students placed in 2019-20, with 100% of the batch getting offers from various law firms, corporates, PSUs, and other organizations, while HNLU Raipur had 83.33% of the batch placed in 2018-19. The average salary package offered to the students of Nalsar University of Law was INR 15.12 LPA, while the average salary package offered to the students of HNLU Raipur was INR 4.5 LPA. However, the placement statistics may vary from year to year.

5- Reviews: Based on the student reviews on Shiksha.com, Nalsar University of Law has a higher rating of 4.5 out of 5, while HNLU Raipur has a rating of 3.7 out of 5. The students of Nalsar University of Law praised the faculty, curriculum, infrastructure, and facilities of the law school, while the students of HNLU Raipur also appreciated the academic environment, exposure, and opportunities of the law school. However, some students of both the law schools also pointed out some areas of improvement, such as the administration, hostel, and diversity.

The selection method goes through 2 routes: direct admission and entrance tests. The establishments taking direct admission choose the scholars on the idea of the benefits list. The establishment that prefers the doorway check as admission settle for the innumerable entrance check for law programs like CLAT, AILET, and LSAT. Some universities like GGSIPU could conduct their own entrance check. once clearing the doorway, some institutes could need the qualified candidates to look for associate degree interview for the selection method. 

Candidates appearing for the exam will have to score somewhere between 78-90 marks in CLAT 2024 to secure admission in top 5 NLUs.

For AILET Exam: General category candidates need to score above 70 marks out of 150 to get admission to NLU Delhi.SC/ST candidates need to score around 50 marks, while PwD/KM/J&K candidates need to score around 35-50 marks.
