You can definitely get admission to BTech Civil Engineering without giving the entrance exam. There are more than 990 colleges that take students on the basis of Class 12 board exam marks. Having said that, the top IITs and NITs in India strictly give admission on the basis of entrance exam scores.
It is always better to give the entrance test and get excellent marks in the same as it gives you a backup option for admission. Rest, you must work hard and score well in both Class 12 and entrance exam to grab a seat at a decent college for BTech Civil Engineering.

Most of the top-ranked BTech Civil Engg. colleges in India give admission to students on the basis of valid entrance exam scores. If you're targeting the IITs and NITs in India, you must give relevant entrance tests and get outstanding marks and rank in the same to be able to secure a seat at the institution.

Having said that, more than 990 colleges admit students on the basis of Class 12 board exam marks. These colleges often take additional rounds like the GD or PI to assess the knowledge and capability of the applicants. Further, a few colleges may give equal weightage to both the parameters.
