The BTech Civil Engineering syllabus focuses on both theoretical lectures as well as practical work.
With the help of lectures in the curriculum, theoretical concepts are introduced to students, tutorials provide space for solving problems and applications also.

While, the exact amount of time required to prepare for the entrance exam for BTech Civil Engg. cannot be said with any certainty, you should start preparing for the same at least 6 to 8 months before the exam date.
It will give you time to go through the entire exam syllabus, cover a majority of the syllabus, and have time to revise all the important topics. You can increase your chances of getting a good score and rank if you make a timetable and pick up at least one topic every day.

The answer to this question will vary from person to person. The difficulty level of the entrance test often depends on the preparation of the applicants. For example, if you have worked very hard and covered all the topics given in the exam syllabus, you will find the exam paper very easy to attempt. Meanwhile, for your friend, that same question paper could turn out to be a disaster and the most difficult, as they might not have prepared that well for the test.

BTech Civil Engg. course duration is 4 years in India. Usually, all of BTech courses in India have a duration of 4 years that provide students with excellent theoretical as well as practical knowledge about particular engineering specialisation in which they are studying their BTech degree course.

Almost all of the B Tech Civil Engineering colleges in India offer some sort of relaxation, usually 5%, in marks when it comes to the admission process. For example, if the eligibility criteria for admission is 55% marks for general category students, the criteria for SC/ST/OBC categories will be 50% marks.
Similarly, if the college offers merit-based admission to the BTech Civil Engg. course, the cutoff for reserved categories will be less as compared to the general category students. Rest, you can confirm the same by going through the admission procedure as mentioned on the respective official college websites.

This depends on the college offering the B Tech Civil Engg. course. Some colleges admit students on the basis of their Class 12 board exam marks. In order to assess the capability of the students, these institutions often take extra admission rounds like the GD or PI.
Talking about the other possibility, several top-ranked Civil Engineering colleges in India admit students solely on the basis of entrance exam marks like JEE Main, JEE Advanced, KCET, etc. Further, a few other colleges give 50-50 weightage to both the things.

- Class 12th mark sheet with at least 50 to 60% marks in PCM subjects
- Entrance exam scorecard and admit card (if applicable)
- Class 10th mark sheet
