If your total percentage is around 97%-98% and the best of four goes up to 98.75% or 98.8%, you can clear the cut offs by second or third list, if they come out. Seats usually fill up in the first cut-off itself and then go down by only 0.25 or 0.5 in the successive cut-offs.

After an HSC, you should pursue a course you feel you will be comfortable pursuing, and where your interests lie. Ph.D. would remain a distant possibility for an UG student, and you should concentrate more on your UG studies than worrying about a Ph.D. A Masters degree, or its international equivalent, is often required for entry onto a Ph.D. and this is usually the case in arts and humanities subjects. There is no need of dropping a year. You will get plenty of time to think in your free time. Moreover, education does not curb free thinking, it only broadens your ability to think and make a career. You would only waste a year by not doing anything. Please give it a second thought. Regards.

To be frank your SI score will be very low with these marks. IIT, Delhi takes into consideration all the marks and extra-curricular. Students even with good CAT score don't make it to next stage if SI score is low. So as per my understanding, it is very difficult to get in even 1st stage of the process with these marks if you are a general category student.

Hi Ishan, there could be plenty of options and many colleges will offer you a place depending on their admission requirements and norms. 72% is a decent score but you may have to clear entrance exams like SAT or ACT. You must also take the IELTS or the TOEFL. If you are not interested to take SAT or ACT you can apply to colleges in Australia, UK, New Zealand, Netherlands, France to name a few but it will be immensely difficult to provide any college names which will admit you. You have to check the minimum grade requirement and apply to those which you find are best fit for you.

Hi Manjinder,
While going to apply abroad for studies it is better you go through a normal regular schooling. Dummies won't be accepted abroad. Even in India there are many difficulties and formalities for class 12th dummies. See, dummy admissions basically are done by students enrolling for plus-two courses but they spend their time preparing for competitive entrance exams like JEE and medical entrance tests instead of attending classes. This practice won't be accepted by any foreign university, gap period can be accepted but not a dummy school.

Yes,you can But, please specify the university. In private universities, you surely will get good campuses. In government colleges, maybe your percentage will land you in an average college.
