Automotive design is mainly concerned with the development and appearance of road vehicles which includes motorcycles, trucks, buses, coaches, and vans. Automotive designers create concepts using sketches and computer-aided design programs for the visual appearance, as well as functional performance, of vehicles. Automotive design is practiced by designers who usually have an art background and a degree in industrial design or transportation design.
Applicants who have passed the engineering degree in any of the streams of Mechanical /Automobile / Production engineering are eligible to apply for the course of automotive designing.

- M.Tech in Automobile Engineering
- Post Graduate Diploma in Automobile Maintenance
- Diploma in Automobile Engineering
- Certificate Programme in Automobile Technology
Qualification required
- After passing 10th a candidate can opt for diploma programme in Automobile Engineering and after that they can further pursue their post graduate diploma or even can get an Engineering degree for which a diploma holders need to have 50% marks in aggregate.
- For B.E/B.Tech in Automobile Engineering - 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Biomedical with high percentage of marks
- For M.E/M.Tech - Bachelor's degree in B.E/B.Tech
- For pursuing Ph.D degree a candidate should hold master's degree in automobile engineering.
A qualified automotive designer can easily grab lucrative opportunities which are usually accompanied with attractive remuneration packages. Designers can also seek employment in multimedia movie production and ad development team for designing various sports and hi-tech car models used in most of the movies today.

You have already been replied about a variety of career options available after 12th but I know how confusing it is to select one field that's why I would like to give my suggestion on that. I think one should seriously consider current market forces and industry trends before choosing a career field as this is what matters in the end of completion of a course. I feel hospitality and tourism sector has huge potential considering the fact that the Prime Minister himself is stressing on tourism in and out of the country. Therefore, I would definitely advise you to make your career in this field if you find it interesting. Gain maximum skills regarding this industry and make their fortune! Hospitality and Tourism is a very delicate sector if you catch the nerve of this industry you can easily become a king! So, I would advise, go for a proper training before entering in this sector. Like you can go for BBA in hotel travel and tourism. UTM Shillong is a very good university offering this program and as Shillong itself is a tourist destination you can learn a lot here. UTM's program aims to train and develop professionals for hospitality and tourism industry. Program helps students acquire a thorough knowledge and understanding of MARKETING, Sales, Tour Planning, Tour Operation, Holiday Consulting and foreign exchange management for tourists. XII is a very important milestone for your life. You may get yourself a proper counselling or psychometric analysis done to understand the prefered direction. Based on your inclination you may decide the direction and commence preparing towards the same.
As you have posted in AVGC segment. I will update you about Animation- Vfx-Gaming-Comic segment. It is a highly exciting, youthful career. It needs lot of passion, patience and Creativity to become Creative Artist. Ensure that you possess it.
You could also do a Animation and Digital Media program which covers all the aspects desired to become an avid designer. Such course prepares you for Gaming, Animation Studios, Production Houses, Web, Ad agencies, Home entertainment through TV, e-learning etc.
Digital Media and Animation related programs are offered by lot of Government Colleges and Autonomous Institutes & Universities.
While choosing any institute ensure that you are taught by Experienced & proficient Mentors. Also ensure adequate infrastructure, industry interface & validate placement track record of alumni's. Learning Software alone won't help you. First acquire artistic skills on paper, then learn application software's for expressing skills in the Digital Medium.
