Yes, that is true that you need to have 75% in boards, but that is only the case with JEE Mains paper 2. All the JEE exams require a 75% in board exams for admission into NITs and the other colleges that come under JEE.
Even for JEE Mains paper 1 (B.Tech), you need to have 75% in HSC to get an NIT even if you have scored 300/360.
In case of NATA exam (National Aptitude Test in Architecture), it is enough to have 50% in mathematics and English. These are compulsory subjects and you should have passed the exam with 50%.

VITEEE
UPSEE
SRMJEE
MHTCET
Also, check Thapar University and other private engineering universities.

You can attempt it thrice which includes one compartment exam. Please understand this, there are subsequent three chances of compartment examination in class 12th i.e., if a candidate appeared in 2016 and got compartment then he can appear in July in the same year, the second chance will be given in March/April and third chance in July of the next year.
