The Institute of Management, in comparison to other institutions such as IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Calcutta, looks at the overall percentile rather than implementing sectional cutoffs. As such, GIBS has a more flexible admission process and does not exclude potential applicants who may have performed poorly in one section of the CAT, provided they still meet the overall percentile requirement.

The overall cutoff for the CAT at GIBS is considered relatively low, with an average of about 60-65%. As long as a candidate has achieved this overall score, they will be invited to proceed to the next stage of the admission process, which includes group discussions, interviews, and possibly written tests. The performance in these rounds, combined with the candidate's academic background and communication abilities, has a significant impact on the final decision.

Generally, deadlines for GIBS Business School be based on the releases of MAT/CMAT results and the timeframes that correspond to when students can apply to PGDM/MBA programs. Since there are multiple MAT sessions each year, GIBS will review applications after every MAT test has been conducted (generally 2-4 weeks after score announcements), while CMAT is only once a year, and students can still apply during the timeframe immediately after the official result announcement.  

Practically speaking, GIBS does rolling admissions, which means that as they receive applications throughout the entire process, they will begin evaluating them based on the applicant's performance rather than waiting until a single cutoff. Unlike most other UK-based PGPM institutions who typically implement policy where applicants must wait until an institution announces its rolling process, GIBS allows the applicant to apply as soon as they receive their results.  

As there are limited seats available, it is advised that applicants submit their applications as soon as they receive their MAT/CMAT score results. Also, if an applicant submits their application before the official announcement of the results, the applicant will likely have first priority when interviewing or participating in a group discussion or selection process for their MBA program. In other words, if you receive your MAT/CMAT score and then submit your application as quickly as possible; you are much better off than someone who waits until a later date in order to apply.  

The exact application submission dates each year can differ from one year to another, depending on the schedules of the exams, so it would be beneficial for applicants to confirm with the admissions office after they have received their MAT/CMAT results. Submitting your application immediately gives you the best chance of completing the process before the deadline.
