All qualified students with a valid Common Entrance Examination for Design Examination score become eligible to apply for admission to various design programs under the Indian Institutes of Technology and the Indian Institute of Science. A valid Common Entrance Examination for Design score does not, however, promise admission to the desired institute. And also no recruitment was done for jobs based on Common Entrance Examination for Design score.

There is no age bar for applying to the Masters Programmes in NIFT. Eligibility for Masters Programmes Design, Management and TechnologyDesign M.Des Master of Design
Candidates must have successfully completed any of the following:
Undergraduate Degree in any discipline from any Institute University recognised by law in India or
Undergraduate Diploma of minimum three years duration from NIFT NID.

Yes, you can become a fashion designer without taking the NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology) exam. It is not the end of the world if you cannot crack the National Institute of Fashion Technology. You may get admission to any other institute to complete the course and become a designer.
