Yes, all B.Des candidates who were shortlisted for NID DAT 2026 counselling had to submit their campus preferences within the allotted time. The preferences have to be entered in the order of priority. 

The allotment of seats to the B.Des programme will be based on the campus option selected and merit rank of the candidate in NID DAT 2026 So, one must bear caution when entering their preferences.

The National Institute of Design (NID) has released the admission hanbooks for the B.Des and M.Des courses. It contains the list of exam cities for DAT Prelims exam for each course.

As per information given in the M.Des Admission Handbook, the DAT Prelims exam in the following cities - Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Kurukshetra, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Thiruvananthapuram, Vijayawada.

The candidate can select their choice of exam city when filling out the NID DAT 2024 application form. 

The National Institite of Design (NID) will conduct the DAT Prelims exam for both the B.Des and M.Des programs on December 24, 2024. The admit cards for the two programs will also be released on the same date, i.e. December 12, 2023.

To download the admit card, the candidate needs to go to the NID admission portal - admissions.nid.edu. On the portal, the M.Des DAT Prelims admit card download link will be given.Click on the link, and then log in using your email id and date of birth. On successful login, you can download the admit card.

The National Institite of Design (NID) released admit cards for DAT Prelims exam on December 12, 2023.

The admit card will be issued online at admissions.nid.edu. To download the admit card, click on the admit card link and login by entering your email id and date of birth.

Hard copies of the admit card will not be sent to the candidate.

On exam day, you must bring a photo ID proof in original along with a printout of the admit card. Note that digital copies of the admit card will not be accepted.

The NID DAT 2024 exam will be conducted on December 24, 2023.

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Bangalore offers a Master of Design (M.Des) program. Admissions to the M.Des program at NIFT Bangalore are based on candidates’ performance in the NIFT entrance exam. This exam comprises the General Ability Test (GAT), Creative Ability Test (CAT), Situation Test or Group Discussion, and Personal Interview. The last closing rank for admission in MDes in the year 2021 was 58 and in the year 2022 was 74.

The placements are good at NIFT Bangalore. Talking about on campus placements, the average package offered is 3 LPA, and there were total 2100 offers in year 2022. The Designer students are placed at better levels as compared to production students according to the statistics provided. Various top level companies like Infosys, Nalli, H&M, Nalli, etc., recruit students from NIFT Bengalore. The National Institute of Design (NID) conducts the DAT Mains exam separately for the B. Des and M.Des programs.

NID DAT Mains Exam for B.Des was conducted on 

• Studio Sensitivity Test: April 19, 2026
• In-Person Sensitivity Test: May 11 to May 17, 2026

NID DAT Mains exam for M.Des was conducted on March 08, 2026. Personal Interview was from March 21, 2026 to April 01, 2026.
