Yes electronics and communication and electronics and telecommunication are same. They can apply for ECE stream related jobs. There is no difference in that.

If you want to pursue career in software then you can go for JAVA, DOT NET or other certification courses available in softwares. Normally software companies are recruiting ECE students. If you want core Electronics job then you can go for courses like MATLAB, Tanner, Microprocessor which will help you in getting job in core industry.
