Hello George, You have raised indeed a very interesting and pertinent query. Minimum cut off marks a student needs to score in the eligibility examination for getting into engineering colleges varies from institute to institute. IIT's mandate at least 75% in 12th examination or in the top 20 percentile. Some Deemed to be universities have put 60% as the qualifying criteria. However in majority of the colleges in almost all the states across India only about 50% seats are filled up. You can't get lateral entry for B.Tech after B.Sc for lateral entry only Diploma holders can apply.

Hi Aniruddh,
There is no lateral entry for 2nd year B.Tech after completing B.Sc. You have to do Diploma in engineering for lateral entry in engineering graduation.

To get the admission through lateral entry for B.Tech in CSE, Diploma in tool and die making diploma is not eligible. Please refer to-

The minimum qualification required for admission into a diploma course is passing of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC)/10th standard/equivalent examination, with Science and Maths subjects.

Because, many universities conduct the Entrance examination or on the basis of JEE-Mains Score card.
