If you are getting CSE in Thapar Institute Of Engineering and Technology, then go and grab the opportunity blindly, because if you loose this chance then it will ne really bad for you. TIET is much better than Chandigarh University. I'm not saying that CU is not good but if you compare both universities, then Thapar Institute will be far ahead than Chandigarh University. You cannot pursue two courses simultaneously. You have to complete one course to pursue another. You should go through the prospectus of the course offered by the institute to know more about admission procedure, fees, syllabus, course structure etc.

B.Tech is a full-time degree and since it is practical one you can do it part-time. Hence, AMIE is the best option for you. AMIE is a recognized degree of MHRD and valid in all leading government jobs, PSUs and for higher studies. You can also take admission through lateral entry. For a list of all the colleges:

Yes, AMIE degree holders can apply for GATE exam. In case a student is expecting to complete the qualifying criteria in 2020 or later as mentioned in the table, then he/she has to upload their Provisional Certificate Letter or a copy of marks card for Section A of AMIE, etc. ,because you have not completed your AMIE so far than you can submit AMIE Section-A mark sheet while applying for GATE exam.
