If you want to score 300+ in Mains, then aim for a good rank in Advanced. There are a couple of points that won't be asked in Advanced but in Mains. If you join any coaching center, they will tell you where to focus on Mains & Advanced. Compose those down. Keep on planning for Advanced, and at the end of the year, you can focus on the chapters that are exclusive for Mains. And also, don't forget to give mock tests. Second Part:
Purchase 36 years by Arihant (it has chapter wise earlier year questions) and when you are over with entire syllabus (class 11th and class 12th) increase your speed. This time will come when your class 12th is going to end. Third Part:
Revising is the key. After you have done certain number of topics, just revise them. IIT isn't just about testing your ideas, it is also about recall (how well do you recall the things you read a couple of months ago). So, don't quit revising & solving previous year question papers. Selection of the Books:
The books you select for your reference will either make things simple for you or troublesome. You can refer the following books:
1. DC Pandey and H C Verma are enough to build concepts in Physics.
2. SK Goal would be ideal for Maths (Algebra). Maths is a scoring subject and if you are referring to this book, you can easily score around 80% here.
3. NCERT, however, will remain your primary reference. Remember These Things:
Training Institutes are for making you aware of the competition & preparing you for it. But at last, everything depends on you, self-study is what matters. Also, you have to be smart enough to manage your time. So, there is a need for smart work over hard work.
