The Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) doesn’t offer any short term / distance course. Currently, the institute offers only full time UG degree courses. Admission to the 4-year B.Des courses offered by the institute will be based on the cumulative performance of the candidate in the SEED 2024 written exam, PRPI and Portfolio Review. 

The application form for SEED 2024 will commence sometime in the month of September 2023. Candidates who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria can apply for admission.

SID presently offers only UG courses in design. So, candidates can’t appear in the SEED 2024 exam for admission to any PG courses. The SEED written exam is administered in the month of Janaury. Candidates who qualify in the written exam has to next appear in a PRPI round. The final merit list for SID will be prepared by considering the performance of the candidate in the SEED 2024 written exam, personal interaction, and PRPI and Portfolio review.

There are currently 180 seats available for the B.Des programme for Indian national. There are also 27 supernumerary seats earmarked for international students.

The eligibility criteria for admission to the B.Des programme is determined by the Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID). The candidates can go through the program-specific eligibility criteria on the admission portal of SID - sid.edu.in. 

SEED 2024 eligibility criteria for the B.Des programme is explained below.

A candidate must have passed 10+2 (any stream) or an equivalent or 10+3 Diploma approved by State Board of Technical Education with minimum 50% (SC/ST - 45%) aggregate marks.

The B.Des programme has an intake capacity of 180 seats (Indian nationals only). In addition, there are 27 seats reserved for international students. The candidate may note that the seat intake is however subject to approval from SIU. There is also reservation of seats for SC, ST, and Differently Abled candidates.

The B.Des programme is available in four specialisations - Communication Design, Industrial Design, Fashion Design, and Fashion Communication.

The SEED 2024 exam will be administered in an online proctored mode. Candidates seeking admission to the B.Des programme at the Symbiosis Institute of Design need to ensure that their exam preparation is top notch and bereft of any major follies. 

Here are the important toipics that candidates need to prepre for the SEED 2024 exam:

Visual Sensitivity and Judgement, Observational, Perceptual and Reasoning abilities, Problem Solving, Basic knowledge of Logic of Science and Mathematics, Art, Craft and Culture, Design and Environment.

Typically it will take a little more than 6 months to complete the SEED 2024 exam syllabus. However, if your fundamentals are strong, you can complete the syllabus in less time. The SEED 2024 syllabus will include topics like - Visual Sensitivity and Judgement, Observational, Perceptual and Reasoning abilities, Problem Solving, Basic knowledge of Logic of Science and Mathematics, Art, Craft and Culture, Design and Environment.

The SEED 2024 syllabus will be released by the Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID). It is very possible that the candidate finds some topics difficult. When the candidate encounters difficult topics, the first urge should be to try a little harder to tackle the topic. But if you are not able to get it done with that extra effort, it is better to take the help of a teacher, peer, or a guide. Or else you will end up spending prodigious time.
