SEED Entrance Exam 2023 - Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) will conduct the SEED 2023 written exam on January 8, 2023. The exam will be 2.5 hours long, administered in online mode, and include objective-type questions. The online application form for SEED 2023 is now OPEN.

The application form is available from September 5 to November 30, 2022. The application process will include steps like online registration, filling of essential information, uploading of documents, and payment of fees.

The institute will also conduct an online mock test on January 3.

Candidates who qualify in the written exam will next have to appear in a Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI) round. 

The merit list cum results for SEED 2023 will be prepared by considering the cumulative performance in the Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED), Portfolio Review, and PRPI round.

The Symbiosis Institute of Design offers a B.Des course, which has an intake capacity of 180 seats; in addition, there are 27 seats earmarked for international students.

What is SEED?

Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED) is a design aptitude test conducted by the Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) for admissions to the BDes programs offered at its campuses. It may be noted that from 2019 onwards admission to BDes courses offered at Symbiosis School of Planning, Architecture, and Design (SSPAD), Nagpur is also done through the SEED exam. 

Earlier known as SET for Design, the SEED exam evaluates candidates on parameters like color, geometry, visual observations, general design awareness, creative thinking abilities, and awareness of Indian culture, craft, traditions, etc.

SEED Application Form 2023

The online application form for the SEED 2023 exam opened on September 5; the last date to fill out the form is November 30, 2022. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria for the B.Des program can register for the exam.

How to fill the SEED 2023 application form

  • Get registered - In the registration form, enter details like email id and mobile number to get registered. On successful registration, an applicant account will be created.
  • Fill in the form - In this step, fill in your personal, academic, and contact details. Also, select the Test Centre preference.
  • Pay the application fee - After ensuring the application fee is complete in all respects, pay the exam fee of INR 2,950. The fee has to be paid in online mode using net banking, credit, and debit cards.

SEED 2022 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates need to fulfill the eligibility criteria as listed by SID for admission in design programs offered by it. Aspirants meet SEED eligibility criteria if they have:

  • Cleared Class 12 (from any stream; e.g.: Science, Commerce, Arts, etc.) or equivalent (Or)
  • Cleared 10+3 diploma approved by State Board of Technical Education with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (45% marks or equivalent grade for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes).

Aspirants who are appearing for their final exams in the 10+2 or 10+3 diploma programs exam pattern also meet the SEED 2022 eligibility criteria on the condition that their final exam results are declared latest by June of the admission year.

Note: Any candidate who fails in his/her Class 12 examination but later appears for and clears the immediate compartmental examination which is held in the same year, in their first attempt, is eligible for provisional admissions at SID.

SEED 2023 Admit Card

The Symbiosis Institute of Design will release the SEED admit card between December 15 and January 8, 2023.

The hall ticket is a mandatory document that has to be produced at the time of taking the SEED exam. It will be issued only to those candidates who have duly completed the application process.

The admit card will carry details like the candidate's name, roll number, date and time of the SEED 2023 exam, and the name and address of the allotted exam center.

  3. Enter your SEED ID and password
  4. On log-in, the admit card will be displayed on screen
  5. Download and take a printout of the admit card.

SEED 2023 Admission Process

Candidates seeking admission to the B.Des course at the Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) have to go through the following steps.

  • Step 1 - Apply for SEED 2023: The candidate needs to first get registered and fill out the application form.
  • Step 2 - Download the Admit Card: The admit card will be issued to all successfully registered candidates. Aspirants need to place their latest passport-sized colored photograph on their SEED admit card at the required place. The admit card will contain details like the name, roll number, date and time of the exam, and exam center details.
  • Step 3 - Appear in the SEED 2023 Exam: The entrance exam will be conducted in online mode and include objective-type questions. 
  • Step 4 - Shortlisting of candidates for SEED, Portfolio Review, PRPI Task, and Personal Interaction - The result of SEED will be put up on the SID website. Candidates who qualify SEED have to next appear for SID’s Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI) round.
  • Step 5: Upload portfolio - Shortlisted candidates have to upload their portfolios on the portal a day prior to the PRPI. Check the SEED 2023 pattern to know about the portfolio requirements in detail.
  • Step 6: Perform the PRPI Task - The PRPI task will be shared 3 days prior to the chosen date of the online PRPI. 
  • Step 7 - Declaration of Result - The result-cum-final merit list will be prepared by giving weightage to SEED, Portfolio Review, PRPI Task, and Personal Interaction rounds.  
  • Step 8 - Counseling and seat allotment - The allotment of seats will be based on the SEED 2023 merit rank of the candidate.

SEED 2023 Syllabus

Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED) syllabus includes topics of Visualisation, Observational, Perceptual & Reasoning Abilities, Creative & Problem-Solving Abilities, and Application of Basic Knowledge of Science & Mathematics. As the MCQs are asked in the exam based on the above-mentioned topics candidates are advised to start their preparation in advance especially before nine to ten months of the exam. SEED 2023 Pattern

As per the official website, the candidates had to appear for SEED exam and those qualifying the exam will be shortlisted for portfolio review and personal interaction rounds. The exam pattern for SEED 2023 will be such that aspirants had to attempt 150 multiple choice questions in two and a half hours duration.

After qualifying the SEED exam candidates are supposed to appear for the Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction Round. The portfolios of candidates should fulfill the requirements set by the institute. However, some conditions are given below:

  • Collaging of images, 2D and 3D articles
  • Photography

SEED 2023 Mock Test

The Symbiosis Institute of Design will conduct the SEED mock test on January 3, 2023. The mock tests will be conducted in online mode and can be taken by the candidate to prepare for the exam.
