The Computer Science and Engineering department at the BTech batch of IIT Palakkad has a sanctioned intake of 60 seats, including 48 gender-neutral seats and 12 female-only supernumerary seats.

To improve gender balance, IIT Palakkad adds 20% supernumerary seats for female candidates over the base intake. This means if a branch has 40 base seats, 8 additional seats are created exclusively for women, increasing total capacity.

Admissions to the different BTech, M.Tech and MSc courses of Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad will depend on entrance exam scores such as JEE Mains, GATE, etc. But it is difficult to say whether getting into IIT Palakkad is tough or easy and will depend on the:
- Candidate's level of preparation
- Competition
- Available seats
- Exam Difficulty

The application process for IIT Palakkad admissions is as shown here:
- Register for required entrance exams through the portal such as (jeemain.nta.nic.in).
- Register as an applicant, filling the form, submitting documents and paying application fees.
- Appear for the exam then go for counselling.
- Select IIT Palakkad as preferred institute.
Students must also upload the required documents and pay application fees for smooth admissions.

There are no separate application fees for Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad admissions though students must pay a registration fee of INR 300 up enrollment after admissions. Students must also pay the required entrance exam's own separate registration fees to the conducting body.

The general documents required for IIT Palakkad admissions are as shown here:
- Phone number & email ID
- Academic details related to Class 12th and Class 10th Cleared exams
- Scanned copies of certificates of the category of students
- Scanned copies of the photograph and signature of students as per the specifications given by NTA
- Credit card/ Debit card/ UPI details for the fee payment of the application.
- Entrance Exam score card (JEE Mains, GATE, etc.)
While PG courses such as MTech, MSc, etc. also requires Graduation degree or marksheet.

The course fees for the BTech and M.Tech programmes at Institute of Technology Palakkad consists largely of tuition fees being:
- Around INR 1 Lakhs per semester for the 4-year BTech programme.
- While the M.Tech tuition fees are around INR 5K per semester for the 2-year programme.
Students may also have other extra charges such as examination fees, security deposit, etc.

Yes if your rank 540 you can secure seat in most engineering programs of IIT Palakkad.
Computer Science and Engineering: 6199
- Data Science and Engineering: The cutoff was around 8084.
- Electrical Engineering: The cutoff was about 9766.
- Civil Engineering: The cutoff was as high as 16487.

In 2025, the IIT Palakkad CSE cutoff was relatively less competitive for admission as compared to that of IIT Tirupati and IIT Goa for students belonging to the General AI quota. The CSE cutoff ranged between 4620 and 5034 for IIT Tirupati, while for IIT Goa, it ranged from 5626 to 6242. For IIT Palakkad, the cutoff ranks were between 5736 and 6454 for CSE admission in the General category.
