Citizenship: Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply for admission in IIST. Date of Birth: Candidates belonging to General category (GEN) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) categories must have been born on or after October 1, 1992. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Persons with Disabilities (PD) categories must have born on or after October 1, 1987. Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology requires minimum 75% and it is one of the eligibility criteria for the college. So you can't apply for IIST.

Yes, IIST promoted by ISRO is one of the best institutes of learning and if you are getting admission here, then I would advise you to take it without any doubts.

The JEE Mains age limit criteria is explained below:
For General & OBC:
As per the JEE Main Eligibility 2018, the candidates must have born after 1st
October 1993 i.e. they must not age more than 24 Years while appearing in the exam.
For ST/SC/PWD:
The eligibility criteria for JEE Mains 2018 says that the candidates belonging to any of these categories ST, SC, PWD can be benefitted with 5 Years of Age Relaxation.
This means that they must have born after 1st October 1988 (Upper Age Limit 29 Years) to appear in the exam.

Now, about IIT or IIST. You should go to IIT, if you wish to continue your study and do M.Tech or Ph.D, as when you apply for higher studies the IIT name will give you an edge

But I would suggest you to decide your path as a person in two minds cannot focus towards the goal.

If the field doesn't matter, then go for Aerospace Engineering from IIST from where your chances to go in ISRO would be increased.
