In 2018 Admission is through counselling based on the score obtained in JEE Advanced and 12th score of 75% marks. Seats Available :-
B.Tech. (Aerospace Engineering) = 60
B.Tech. (Avionics) = 60
Dual Degree (B.Tech. + M. S. /M.Tech. ). = 20
For Gen category 20%, for OBC 18% and for SC/ST 10% in JEEadv to be eligible to get shortlisted for selection for admission, so more you score more chance to get selected for admission. First try to qualify in JEE main & then do hard to score decent marks, because there are limited seats in IIST. Only those candidates will be featured in the rank list of JEE Advance 2018, who will secure required minimum marks in exam, as well as each section as given below :-
1. For Gen :-
Minimum Marks in Each Section = 5% of Sectional Marks (6 marks)
Minimum Marks Overall = 20% of Total (73 marks)
2. For OBC :-
Minimum Marks in Each Section = 4.5% of Sectional Marks (5 marks)
Minimum Marks Overall = 18% of Total (65 marks)
3. For SC / ST :-
Minimum Marks in Each Section = 2.5% of Sectional Marks (3 marks)
Minimum Marks Overall = 10% of Total (36 marks)

B.Tech Aerospace Engineering Eligibility:
1. A 10+2 examination (Pre-University Board Examination) with physics, chemistry, and Mathematics that are recognized by any State Board / Central Board (with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks).
2. The student should have the fundamental knowledge of computers and programming. Candidate should have passed HSC (Std. XII) State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Mathematics are compulsory and optional subjects are Chemistry / Biology / Biotechnology & Technical Vocational. Choose any one from the optional subject and secured a minimum of 50% marks (45% in case of Backward Class candidates)
3.Diploma (any specialization) awarded by MSBTE or equivalent by any other Government body with a minimum aggregate of 50%.

IIT Kanpur will declare the result for JEE Advanced 2018 and along with the result, the exam conducting authority will also declare JEE Advanced 2018 cutoff. The cutoff of JEE Advanced 2018 is the closing rank at which admission to a particular engineering/branch, at a particular IIT closes. Candidates securing a rank below than the cutoff of JEE Advanced 2018 will not be considered eligible for admissions. In other words, candidates have to secure a rank above JEE Advanced 2018 cutoff to secure a seat. The cutoff ofJEE Advancedfor the year 2018 will be released by IIT Kanpur once the result of the entrance test will be declared, however, the cutoff data for 2017 and 2016 can be checked below. By checking JEE Advanced cutoff 2018, aspiring candidates will get to know their admission chances. JEE Advanced 2018 cutoff will be available category-wise, institution-wise and branch-wise.
