Admission in IITs is based on Category wise All India Ranks. So Home state quota is not applicable in case of IITs. While H. S. quota is applicable for admission in NITs, GFTIs and CFTIs. Further the last year closing rank in MEMS at IIT-B in general category under neutral gender was 3501.

As per the year 2019-20 placement statistics of IIT-B for 2 year M.Sc in biotechnology. Total 13 students has been participated in placement. Out of which 7 students get placed with 53.85% of students participated in placement.
