You are eligible to do B.Tech IT if you have physics, chemistry and maths as subjects in 10+2 stage. You are advised to appear for engineering entrance examinations to seek admission in B.Tech IT. You can appear in GATE examination to do M.Tech IT. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all-India examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and Science. You will have to appear for GATE examination in Information technology.
You are further advised that you may also evaluate doing B.Tech CSE also. Syllabus of B.Tech IT and B.Tech CSE overlaps between 80% to 90%. Many students get confused between this two courses and you are no exception. While MCS, equally covers both hardware and software aspects, IT and software engineering has a lesser focus on the hardware aspect. However, this difference hardly matters as universities frequently keep updating the syllabus for each branch.
Unless and until, you get a job in a hardware manufacturing company like Intel, Logitech, etc., this little difference in the syllabus hardly matters. Most of the jobs offered is in the software domain.
So, there is no need to compare the little differences between the branches. Get admission in a good college in any of these branches, keep a percentage of over 70 without any backlogs and have a great start for your future.
