Yes, it is compulsory to attend the 1st round because it gives a choice and options to choose other institutes for the 2nd round.

Hello, JEE Advanced Exam was held on 20th May 2018. As the students might be looking for the Results to be announced on 10th June. The JEE Advanced is being conducted by the IIT Kanpur. To fill the JEE Advanced Counselling you need to take help from the given list of documents.
Here is the list of Documents to taken while doing the JEE Advanced Counselling process-
JEE Main Admit card and Score Card
4 Passport size photos
Provisional seat letter of allotment
Photo ID card
Seat accepting payment proof or documents
DOB Documents
Class 12 Mark sheet
Caste or category Certificate.

Hello Shiv,
There is no registration fee for taking part in JOSSA counselling. But after getting a seat if you want to accept the seat you have to pay seat acceptance fee and after getting admission through JOSSA conuselling your paid money will be considered as admission fee. Example:- If you paid (x) as seat acceptance fee and institute in which you are going to take admission charging you (y) as an admission fee, then you have to pay (y-x) for admission. The top 7 IITs for mechanical engineering are as follows-
1. Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-D)
2. Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Mumbai (IIT-B)
3. Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur IIT KGP)
4. Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT-K)
5. Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M)
6. Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (IIT-R)
7. Indian Institute of Technology BHU (IIT-BHU), Varanasi
For all top IITs like Madras, kharagpur, bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Hyderabad you are supposed to be under AIR 9000 for JEE Advanced to get any of the branches at above colleges. Hope I've cleared your doubt.

If you belong to reserved Kotak, then you only need to show is your category wised ranking. Many colleges seek admission on the basis of all India ranking but the traditional way is according to your category wise ranking.
