Hi Sawan,
Well, it depends on your branch preference and also which IITs you consider as "good". Cut-offs are much higher in old IITs like Delhi, Kanpur and Bombay than the newly opened ones. JEE offered ranks to students scoring above 123 marks in JEE '14 which went approximately to AIR 19000. However, general category students only to AIR 9000 were considered for counselling and no student with AIR above 7500 got any branch in any IIT. The cut-offs in JEE are increasing drastically every year - and there is no fixed cut-off. The maximum marks and type of paper are also unpredictable. Hi Anwesha,
Jadavpur University is a state university of West Bengal and thus the admission is done through WBJEE. Jadavpur University does not take admissions through JEE Mains. So, if you want to get into Jadavpur, first sit for WBJEE. To get into JU, you need to get a rank under 1500, If you are going for Electronics, CSE, Mechanical, Civil, Instrumentation, etc., then you need a very decent score, your rank should be under 600 700. But, if you want to get in IT, Power, Printing, Construction etc. Then scoring under 1200 1500 will be enough. Yes, there is a caste based quota. Considering, you're from general category, you won't get old NITs with these core branches unless you have home state quota. In new NITs, you can easily get the core branches also apply to Delhi college counselling because with this rank you also have opportunities for NSIT DCE and IIIT Delhi and those are also good colleges. See, if you have state domicile certificate then you may get the college in the second round of counselling but if you are of outside Maharashtra then it will be difficult for you to get into the college at this rank.

Admission is through counselling conducted by Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra based on marks obtained in 10+2/ Diploma and score obtained in National Aptitude Test in Architecture(NATA).
You will need a valid NATA score to secure admission for this course.
