Hello Vedaprabhat,
These days admissions in engineering colleges without entrance exam is Utopia. Of course, there are still some colleges that do give admission directly. I think Sastra is one such institute.

To appear for JEE Mains exam, the criteria is that you must be studying in class 12th with equivalent 75% and above.

It's difficult to say about admission since it depends on dynamic factors. However there are softwares that will predict college in which you can get admission. I am attaching a link that will predict your probable college.

Yes, according to previous years cut-off, you have quite a good chance of getting into NITs. However, I can't say with surety because the cut-off varies every year.

Well, you have a good chance of getting your home state NIT. However, chances are also there for other state NITs. Fill your choice carefully. Wait till the last round for a good branch into a good NIT.
