Hi,
It's great to see that you have discovered what you wish to do. My suggestion would be to analyze your skills in each of the field. By your question I assume that you are still in high school, in that case you might not be able to analyze yourself with respect to mechanical field. So start by analyzing yourself with respect to computer science like how well are you at programming (C, C+) and what's your proficiency in various computer applications like MS Office (Word, Power Point, Excel, Access, etc.), Media editing (audio &/or video), modeling and animation, etc. If you are good at it then you should go for it.

You don't have any chance if you are from general category. Your estimated rank will be around 1-2 lakh.

JEE rank and cutoff marks change every year. According to the last year's cut off if you score 85-95 marks in JEE Mains exam then your rank may be nearly 100000 or below or above and your eligibility to appear for JEE advance is according to this year's cutoff.

I think if you really want to get IIT, you should drop a year as you failed to qualify the JEE Mains exam. A drop year for JEE is risky as the chances to clear IIT are 50% only.
So be ready if you really want IIT.
Best of luck.

IIT-Delhi admits through JEE Advance score, not JEE Mains, but you need to get through Mains to sit for Advance and to get admission in IIT-Delhi you need to be amongst top 200-300 students in JEE Advance.

Dear Shubahsit,
No mobiles are not allowed in examination hall. Mobile phones or any such gadgets will remain out of the main GATE.They will even ask you to remove your digital wrist watch.
They will make sure your glasses are not 'google glass'. They will make sure those artificial aids you are wearing (like hearing aids) only does what it should.

Hello Avijeet,
JEE is a national level entrance examination granting admission into IITs, NITs and other national level colleges. Apart from JEE Mains and Advanced exams, many states in India conduct their own entrance examinations for admission in the private colleges of the respective states (e.g. OJEE for Odisha, WBJEE for West Bengal, EAMCET for Andhra Pradesh/Telangana, KCET/ ComedK for Karnataka, etc.). Besides, some private universities, SRM University, KIIT University, VIT University, PES University, etc. conduct their own entrance examinations. You can appear for these as well for admission in B.Tech.
