The cutoff is decided after the exam and based on the number of people. Generally, the cutoff will be around 72 but it may vary or remain the same.

75% marks are needed to get admission in IITs or NITs but not to appear for Mains exam as you can appear for Mains with pass percentage.

You can appear for JEE-Main 3 times and for JEE-Advance 2 times. You cannot appear for JEE after 3 years of your 12th class. For example: - If you cleared 12th in 2017 then you cannot appear for JEE in 2020.

If you wish to get admission in IITs or NITs then you have to secure above 160 marks in JEE Mains.

Hello Shrushti,
Whether JEE Mains is required or not depends as to where you want to take admission. Unfortunately, for engineering, nothing like NEET is available. However GOL is planning for the same. You will have to go through the list of colleges offering this course and find out their eligibility criteria.
