No, this can't be possible as only for admission in IIT you need to qualify the Advanced paper and only then you will be able to get admission into the IITs and through the Mains score.

It depends year wise. According to last year, 500/720 was trend, according to ranks.
But, going by previous years, 550+/720 safer side. Anything above that guarantees admission for B.Tech DT.
Good luck.

If you have confidence that you can get CS branch in any of the central government colleges then only I'll suggest you take a drop of 1-year, otherwise, not as you can also see what is the condition of the engineers in day to day life.

Hello Hartej,The marks that a student need to score in JEE Mains for getting admission in Thapar Institute of Technology varies between categories of students. If you are from Punjab then scoring 100 in JEE Mains will perhaps get you the branch you desire, however if you are from outside Punjab then you need to score higher at 130 marks to get admission in this branch. Here I would like to caution you because these are the marks that got admission for previous years. What happens in the future depends on how the students score in the exam and also how many students give preference for this branch of engineering. Best wishes to you.

Sorry to say, but by marks in JEE Mains, you can't expect your college and your branch, because every year marks and rank relation changes according to cutoff marks. Good luck.

Engineering doesn't work on 12th marks or a student who scores very high marks in any competitive exam. It's a feeling, a passion which only a few students have in their heart, or are passionate about it. If you're even a little bit interested in engineering, you'll definitely find your way in here, if not, don't waste your time and brain and go for B.Sc engineering is for the students having lots of guts and are ready to face anything. If you're the one, go for B.Tech, you can get admission in any private college of your choice.
