Yes, if you have successfully completed your 10+2 from a recognised board of education with a minimum of 50% marks, you are very much eligible to apply for the journalism course. Every Institute/University conducts a general aptitude test for the aspiring candidates which determines your final selection. You should start practicing your mathematics (up to 10th standard), analytical skills, English Language and general awareness for the same.

If you are looking for colleges in Mumbai itself, there are few very good colleges like Xavier Institute of Communications, University of Mumbai, Take One school of Mass Communication and Manav Rachna Educational Institution. Apart from that, it is highly recommended to apply for other best colleges across the country as well. The UG course in Journalism and Mass Communication includes subjects like Principles of Communication, Print Journalism, Electronic Journalism (TV and Radio), Advertising, Public Relations, Media Research, Corporate Communication, New Media (Internet), Photography, Media Laws, Event Management and alike.

It is always better to pursue a degree programme than a Diploma programme. The employers will always give preference to a degree holder over a Diploma holder, especially at Under Graduate level. A graduation degree is recognised by universities for higher education and therefore has more credibility.
