To become a Journalist, You should pursue BA in Journalism or Mass Communication (BJMC/ BMM) . Pursuing B.Sc in Mass Communication will also make you a well qualified professional as B.Sc gives you a leverage to work in a research and education institute. You can even become a teacher at a Mass Communication college with B.Sc degree.

Within Guwahati, Gauhati University is the only institute where you can pursue Mass Communication. You will have to qualify an entrance test to get admission in the college. This test has multiple choice questions related to mathematics (upto 10th standard), English Language, Logical Reasoning and General awareness.
