The syllabus and the pattern for any course in any university is such that the base should be clear in the first semester or first year, and only then will one be promoted to the next. However, universities allow ATKT (Allowed to Keep Terms) most of the time, which means students can proceed further even if they have not cleared all papers from the first semester. Depending on the university rules, you may be allowed to appear for examinations in both semesters together.
