Hi Sayantan,
Actually both universities are really good with their journalism and mass communication in PG level.
But Viswa Bharati University's PG degree is there for quite long time whereas JU just starting MA in Journalism and Mass Communication in this year only. But there PGDM is quite a famous one.
I would suggest you to look at three course structures then decide the university and course.

Hi Anirudh
SIMC doesn't offer any UG course. It's SCMC (Symbiosis Centre for Media & Communication) who offers the UG courses.
Both belongs to same authority.
All the best.

Hi Sayantan,
Doing MA in Mass Communication in Govt. Institutes is like having less professionalism, less pressure, little bit less systematic study and many more. But if it's a private institute then I have seen that the professors are more dedicated toward the development of the students which is really helpful for every student.
