No. NERIST NEE can be given by candidates from all states. However, there will be reservation of seats with maximum weightage given to the seats reserved for candidates from North Eastern states of India.
The resrevation policy is as follows:
- State quota: 80% of seats are reserved for candidates of the 8 (Eight) North Eastern States (10% for each state) as state-quota. Besides this, 7% of the total seats are filled up with Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) holders of these 8 (Eight) North Eastern States on merit basis.
- All India quota: 10% of the total seats are filled up with candidates under All India-quota.
- PD quota: 3% o

Yes, there is nagative marking in NERIST NEE. For all the examinations (NEE-I/ NEE-II/ NEE-III) with any paper code, the questions are of objective type with multiple-choice answers. Candidates shall have to attempt all the questions from all the sections of the relevant paper. For every wrong answer to a question, 25% (¼th) of the marks carried by that question is deducted. There is no deduction of marks for un-attempted questions.

The NERIST NEE is an offline exam. The candidates have to answer the questions asked in the exam in the OMR sheet. The question paper will consist of 125 multiple-choice questions carrying 150 marks. The candidates have to complete the paper within three hours duration.

As per the latest information, the seat available via NEE are 409 in total. 220 seats via NEE-I, 189 seats via NEE-II and 79 seats via NEE-III. All seats are up for grabs by the candidates who qualify NEE. The seats are allotted based on NEE marks and the reservation policies of NERIST.

NERIST Entrance Examination (NEE) is an offline entrance exam held across the North Eastern States (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura). This entrance exam is conducted by the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST).

The admisison process of NERIST is based on the performance of the candidates in NERIST entrance exam (NEE). To begin with, aspirants need to register for the NEE exam if they are eligible. Then, registered candidates have to download the NEE admit cards from the official website. To download the same, aspirants will need their login details. candidates have to then appear for the offline NEE exam. The result of the entrance exam is announced on the official website and based on whic candidates are selected for the counselling process. Aspirants who clear the exam need to appear for NEE counselling, as per the schedule.

The purpose of the NERIST exam is to take admission to all 3- Certificate Diploma, and Degree modules of Technology, Degree in Forestry courses offered at North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology, North East. - Mathematics: Analytical Geometry, Complex Numbers, Differential Calculus, Matrices and Determinants Sequence and Series Theory of Equation, Trigonometry and Vector Algebra.
- Chemistry: Alcohols, Carbonyl Compounds, Coordination Chemistry D and F Block Elements, Electro Chemistry Ethers, Organic Nitrogen Compounds, Solid States, and Thermodynamics.
