First there will be CAT and GAT. If you crack both of them then you will be called for the 2nd round.
After these rounds you will be shortlisted for the PI.

The courses offered by NIFT are full time courses. You will not be able to manage your studies with your job. You will only be able to pursue a course from NIFT if you give up your job as fashion courses are demanding and require full time dedication.

Applicants should apply for an entrance examination conducted by the university/Institute, comprising of:
General Aptitude Test
Creative Ability Test
Comprehension of English
Eligibility for M.Sc. In Fashion Designing:
B.A or any other equivalent qualification with minimum 50% marks. Some of the very reputed universities and institutes conduct entrance examination to get admission to the degree course.

If you happen to get admission in NIFT, and you are talented enough, you'll surely be having a fabulous future. NIFT has a very active placement cell that helps with internship and job opportunities in various fashion houses and export house. After some experience, you can also have your own fashion business. It is certainly a highly competitive field, but is also very lucrative if you find your way.

Yes, you can. The UPSC eligibility criteria want you to be a graduate in any stream. But, do give it a thought why you want to pursue fashion and then become an IAS. It gets quite contradictory.

NIFT lateral entry admission provides an opportunity of NIFT education to candidates who have completed their Diploma/ Degree in relevant/related fields of Fashion Design & Technology for direct admission to the third semester of UG programmes of NIFT at NIFT campuses.
