Yes, in general, a master's degree is one of the best stepping stones toward a doctorate. I would recommend that.
However, I would also encourage anyone to reflect on why one would want to pursue a doctorate. A PhD is typically a research degree. It may help in teaching, and sometimes consulting, but in general, it should not be considered the best course for professional development.
A master's degree indicates mastery of one's profession. If one is an engineer or professional, the master's degree will help one progress professionally more than will a doctoral degree.

While work experience is not always mandatory, having experience in a finance-related field (e.g., investment banking, corporate finance, or financial consulting) can strengthen your application, especially in practical research areas. It may also help you demonstrate real-world application of finance theories.

No, there is no specific age limit to apply for a PhD in Environmental Science, but there are other eligibility criteria that you must meet:
You must have a master's degree in a relevant field from a UGC-approved university with a minimum qualifying score. The minimum qualifying score is usually 55%, but there may be a relaxation of 5% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates.
