It is phenomenally easy to confuse the term 'Doctor,' as both a PhD and MBBS are referred to as 'Doctor'; however, they have very different roles and expertise.
 
An MBBS has been given the authority to practice medicine and treat patients as a medical doctor. They can diagnose you, prescribe you treatment plans, and perform surgeries on you.
 
A PhD has been awarded the title after conducting rigorous research into a field of study, commonly Science, Engineering or Humanities, typically in a specific area of their field. They are generally a subject matter expert and have a doctorate in their research area, but not generally to practice medicine or treat patients.
 
Let's make clear, while both are doctors in their respective fields, the MBBS doctor is the one you are going to generally encounter in healthcare and that will treat and heal patients.

Upon completing your Master of Physiotherapy from BITS Pilani, you can pursue a PhD in related fields like Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation Sciences, and Healthcare. These students must have a relevant master's degree, such as an MPT with minimum academic performance, and a well-developed research proposal. Students seeking to pursue the PhD admission at Kaziranga University must satisfy the following eligibility criteria:

• A Master's degree with a minimum of 55% marks or is equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 10-point scale OR a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 75% marks or equivalent.
• Candidates who have completed the M.Phil. programme with atleast 55% marks in aggregate or it's equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed.

Note: A relaxation of 5% marks or it's equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/Differently abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates.

Eligibility: The applicant must have passed the master's degree in the concerned subject with aggregate marks of at least 55%.
Entrance Exams: Admission will be done through entrance exam scores from a recognized test like GATE, CSIR-NET, or JRF, which is followed by an interview. 
The duration of the Ph.D. course is around 3 years.
The total fee for the course is around INR 48,550.
