Polytechnic Admission process is automated and conducted through a web based single window system by Department of Technical Education. Candidates are also required to visit the Admission Portal regularly for notifications and announcements. Registration process :
I) Candidates desirous of applying to Diploma Programmes shall register in the admission portal by remitting a fees of Rs. 200/- (For scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates, it shall be Rs. 100/-)
ii) After the one time registration, Separate application shall be submitted for the following categories of seats:
a) Application for government. Quota seats in Government/ Government Aided Programmes / IHRD/ CAPE/ Government seats in Self-Financing Programmes/ Special batch of Hearing Impaired (HI). B) Application for NCC quota seats. C) Application for Sports quota. D) Applications for Management quota seats
e) Candidates seeking admission for management seats in Aided programmes and management seats in Self-Financing Programmes shall submit separate application online for each institution of their choice through the link Applications for Management quota seats in the Admission Portal for each self financing Polytechnic College.

Government Polytechnic Dhanbad was established in 1998 at Dhanbad, Jharkhand.
