Admission to the M.Des programme will be conducted based on performance of the candidate in

• Studio Test & Portfolio Review

• Personal Interaction

M.Des application 2026 is open.

Candidates who are included in the waiting list will be considered for admission only if there are any vacancies. The seat allotment for waiting list candidates will be conducted if there are any vacant seats left.

The allotment of seats in this case will be based on SEED 2026 merit ranks.

• Click good quality pictures of these and compile them in a Power Point Presentation of maximum 15 slides. Convert this into a PDF of up to 5 Mb.
• Take pictures that are different from others. Do not copy others.

The start date for uploading portfolios has not been declared yet, but it is expected to be in the last week of March. The portfolio upload link was given on the SID admission portal. The candidate needed to follow the specified guidelines when uploading the portfolio. 

The portfolio should have

• Sketches, mixed media illustrations and digital work  

• Collaging of images, 2D and 3D articles  

• Photography  

• 3D objects like sculpture, fabric products, gadgets, art inspired products etc.

The slot booking process of SEED 2027 for the Personal Interaction will open tentatively from March 28th, 2027 to March 31st, 2027 (Tuesday). 

SEED 2026 result for written exam was declared on January 11, 2026. Results will be declared online at sid.edu.in. The final results cum merit list of SEED 2026 will be released in the last week of April 2026.

SEED written will have 60 questions and will be of 60 minutes. The questions will include MCQ, Match the Columns, Fill in the blanks, image based and comprehension based.

Paper will contain a mix of questions related to Visual Sensitivity and Judgement, Observational, Perceptual and Reasoning abilities, Problem Solving, Basic knowledge of Logic of Science and Mathematics, Art, Craft and Culture, Design and Environment.

The Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) conducted the SEED 2024 written exam on January 14, 2024. The exam was 1 hour long (conducted between 10 am to 4 pm).

The exam slot was mentioned in the admit card.

On exam day, the candidate had to be ready an hour so before the exam to ensure all pre-exam formalites are comleted on time. The SEED exam is being conducted in an online proctored mode.

The Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) hasn't notified that taking the mock tests is mandatory for admission to the B.Des programme or appearing in SEED. So, it is the discretion of the candidate whether they appear in the mocks or not. That being said it is recommended that the candidate take the mock tests.

It is because the exercise will help the candidate check out the technicalities of the online proctored exam. This in turn will ensure that there are no unnecessary surprises on exam day.
