Candidate seeking admission to the M.Des programme need to meet the following criteria:

Qualifying exam

Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 4-year duration in any specialization, after 10+2 or equivalent a recognised institute.

OR

Full-time Diploma of minimum 4-year duration in Design, Fine Arts, Applied Arts, or Architecture, after 10+2 or equivalent from a recognised institute.

Minimum marks:

The candidate must have secured a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade (45% marks or equivalent grade for SC and ST categories).

Candidates who are included in the waiting list will be considered for admission only if there are any vacancies. The seat allotment for waiting list candidates will be conducted if there are any vacant seats left.

The allotment of seats in this case will be based on SEED 2026 merit ranks.

SEED Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI) will be conducted in two phases. Phase I will be conducted in March 2026. Phase 2 will be conducted in April 2026. Candidates will be notified for the next phase in which they have to appear.

Digital portfolio should be a compilation of the best work of the candidate that showcases candidate's skills, passion and interest in a variety of areas and techniques. It is recommended to take good quality pictures of work and compile them in a Power Point Presentation.

The start date for uploading portfolios has not been declared yet, but it is expected to be in the last week of March 2026. The portfolio upload link was given on the SID admission portal. The candidate needed to follow the specified guidelines when uploading the portfolio. 

The portfolio should have

  • Sketches, mixed media illustrations and digital work  

  • Collaging of images, 2D and 3D articles  

  • Photography  

  • 3D objects like sculpture, fabric products, gadgets, art inspired products etc.

The call letters for the personal interview (PRPI admit card) will be issued in the last week of March 2026. The admit card will be issued only to candidates who complete the slot booking process. 

Note that hard copies of the call letter are sent to the candidate.

On the day of the PRPI, the candidate will have to display the admit card on demand. Any candidate failing to do so will not be allowed to sit in the exam.

The slot booking process of SEED 2026 for the Personal Interaction will open in the last week of January 2026. The slot booking process will open online at sid.edu.in.

You need to log in to the portal using your log-in ID and password to book your slots.

Upon successful slot booking, call letters will be issued.

SEED 2026 result for written exam will be declared on January 19, 2026. Results will be declared online at sid.edu.in. The final results cum merit list of SEED 2026 will be released in the last week of April 2026.

SEED 2026 written will have 60 questions and will be of 60 minutes. The questions will include MCQ, Match the Columns, Fill in the blanks, image based and comprehension based.

Further, the paper will contain a mix of questions related to Visual Sensitivity and Judgement, Observational, Perceptual and Reasoning abilities, Problem Solving, Basic knowledge of Logic of Science and Mathematics, Art, Craft and Culture, Design and Environment.
