The skills needed are somehow identical as both relate to the camera. The VJ job is informal and carries some casual aspect of presentation whereas, a news presenter is to be a formal, disciplined, strong and firm in communication, balanced in opinion as well as highly informed about topics of politics, social matters, education, economics and others. Basically, general awareness is needed. Formal mass media education, electronic media education or degree can increase possibilities of getting a job in news houses. Salary, I quote the same as I said for VJ- No Final Word. However, I have an idea that it stars from 15-20k per month and ranges towards 50k for beginners with some experience or fresher. Proper training and exposure to the camera and presenting oneself to camera and audience in a live mode needed.
