Software Engineering

There are multiple job opportunities available in the field of software engineering (IT). As per NASSCOM, Indian IT Industry revenues grew by 13% in FY2015 and it added 2,30,000 employees in FY15. NASSCOM has forecasted that IT industry exports will grow by 12-14% and domestic market by 15-17% in FY2016 (Actual data is yet to be released). India's IT-BPM industry is projected to grow ~8% in FY2017 to USD 154 billion.
Following are the options for joining software companies after 10+2:
(a) B.Tech CS or B.Tech IT
(b) BCA
(c) B.Sc CS or B.Sc IT
(d) Diploma in Computer Science
(e) Training from training institutes.
CSE & IT grads from top engineering colleges have excellent career opportunities among all the options mentioned above. Following options are available for any graduate to become a software engineer after graduation degree if the candidate had maths as a subject in 10+2:
(a) MCA
(b) M.Sc CS or M.Sc IT
MCA graduates are treated equally to B.Tech CS.
Any engineering graduate can appear in GATE examination and do M.Tech computer science to become a software engineer.

Of course, there are difference between the two. Although, no two computer professionals explain those differences in the same way. One way to understand the differences is to examine two specific words within the given nomenclature; namely, engineer and science (or scientist). Engineers, by nature, are tasked with developing solutions to problems or creating more efficient processes by using tools already in existence. By extension, software engineers often find themselves creating new software by utilizing existing languages or established practices already in use. Contrary to this, scientists often hone their expertise on research and developing (and pushing) the boundaries of their given field. As such, computer scientists may assist in the creation of new algorithms or language types that will eventually be put in use to create software.
Ultimately, both are concerned with computer software and virtually everything related. The focus of these two fields of study overlaps in that both require the student to develop an intimate knowledge of computers, and especially computer software and its various applications.
