National Post Graduate College was established in the year 1974 by Late Chandra Bhanu Gupta, the then Chief-minister of Uttar Pradesh. It is the only institute in the city which has College with Potential for Excellence(CPE) & Autonomous Status. The college received A grade accreditation by National Assessment and Accreditation Council [NAAC] and Autonomous college with potential for excellence by UGC.
The institute is currently backed by the Motilal Memory Society. The institute offers both under-graduate and post-graduate courses. The courses offered are six programs under the scheme of two one-year programs under Community College and two degree and two post-graduate programs under Deen Dayal Upadhyay Kaushal Kendra. The institute also offers various certificate, diploma and degree programs in distant mode.
