If a student from the other board scores 60 marks in Physics, given that the highest mark on that board is 90, their score will be normalized to 66. The normalization formula is (60/90) * 100 = 66.66%.

After normalizing the marks for relevant subjects from different boards, the qualified students will be compiled into a common merit list.

The TNEA 2026 merit list is based on a total scaled score of 200. In case of two candidates get same score, then he tie breaking will be done based on the following criteria order:

1. Percentage in Mathematics
2. Percentage in Physics
3. Percentage in the optional subject
4. The total percentage in class 12 exam
5. Date of birth (Older candidate will be given preference)
6. Random number (Higher value of the random number will be given preference)

The overall and community-wise rank lists can be found on the official TNEA website. College and branch allotments will be provisional and conducted online, based on candidates' choices, overall rank, and community rank. No separate announcements will be made in newspapers.

• Backward Class including Backward Class Muslim - 40%
• MBC & DNC - 40%

The marks provided by the candidates through the TNEA 2025 application form will undergo normalization, and a merit list will be published based on the normalized scores scaled down to 200. Based on the ranks of the candidates in the TNEA merit lists seats wil be allocatted in the various BTEch coursed offered by the TNEA participating colleges.
