According to the National Testing Agency NTA guidelines, aspirants can apply for the exam with their post-graduation subject or related to that. As MA English, MA Linguistic and English language background candidates can take common UGC NET English exam. But, before applying for the exam must check out the UGC NET eligibility criteria whether you are eligible or not? To appear for the exam, you should have minimum 55% aggregate marks in Masters, if you are from General Category or if they belong to OBC/SC/ST/PwD categories you should have scored minimum 50% aggregate marks.

You have completed your M.Com. So, you can apply for UGC NET undoubtedly. But you should remember one thing that only qualifying the post graduation is not enough, you must fulfill the other eligible criteria I.e.
If you belong to the general category, your minimum percentage should be 55% (5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/Transgender). And your age should not be more than 30 years if you are going for the JRF. There is no upper age limit for the post of an assistant professor.
