UGC NET Exam is conducted for the determination of eligibility for an Assistant Professor and junior research fellowship. The candidates who want to make a career in teaching or research and development field can go for the UGC NET exam.
The UGC NET exam is conducted twice a year for more than 90 subjects.
The eligibility for the UGC NET exam is as follows:
Educational: The candidates who have completed the post-graduation degree with minimum 55% marks can apply for the NET exam.
Age Limit:
Candidates of the age limit below 28 years are eligible for the JRF while there is no age limit for the Assistant Professor post.

On behalf of University Grants Commission (UGC), Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts National Eligibility Test (NET). UGC NET is conducted twice a year in order to select candidates for only Assistant Professor or both Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor in Indian universities and colleges. As per media reports, from 2018 onward UGC NET will be conducted once a year.

Documents that need to be sent are:
1. High School/Higher Secondary/Matriculation Certificate depicting date of birth.
2. Masters degree/Provisional Certificate.
3. Consolidated Mark-Sheet of Masters Degree Course. (Wherever grades are assigned, conversion table in terms of consolidated percentage may be produced from the issuing authority).
4. Caste certificate (only in case of SC/ST/OBC candidates).
5. Certificate of Physical disability (only in case of Physically Handicapped and Visually Handicapped candidates).
