Hello,
Both are the emerging fields in India. Both the fields are good to appear in UGC NET exam. If your passion is teaching then you must appear and qualify in UGC NET. The exam is conducted in month of June and December. As per the latest news the UGC NET has announced the results for the UGC NET 2017 Examination. National Eligibility Test (NET) which is conducted for the selection of talented candidates who want to pursue their career in the fields of Research & Lecturer-ship.
Earlier, the University Grants Commission used to conduct the Exam. But since 2015, CBSE is conducting the NET Exam on the behalf of UGC.

CBSE UGC NET exam is held twice a year, usually in the months of June and December. If you prepare well, you may clear UGC NET exam in just the first attempt.
It is not as tough as you think, if you go with a planned approach, you can clear it. The most important thing is that, there is no negative marking. You don't have to worry about wrong answers or doubtable questions. Hi Ruby,
You are not eligible for the UGC NET Exam right now. You need to complete the Master's degree first to appear in UGC NET Exam.
The UGC NET exam is conducted for the junior research fellowship award or assistant professor.
The educational qualification for the UGC NET Exam is Master's degree with minimum 55% marks from recognized university.

If you are asking for MA in humanities and social science, then yes, you can appear in the UGC NET exam through MA in humanities and social science.
If you have done MA from some other course, then you can check whether the subject is included in UGC NET or not from the link given below:

This entrance exam is conducted for the post of lecturer and Junior Research Fellowship twice every year in the month of June and December respectively.
The eligibility criteria for the exam is:
1. Master's degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Final year post graduation candidates can also apply for the exam.
2. Minimum of 55% of marks is needed in master's degree.
3. The upper age limit for the JRF is 28 years however, there is no limit for the lectureship.

Yes, you can appear for the same. You need to have 55% aggregate in Masters Degree or an equivalent degree. You can apply for UGC NET exam only for the subject in which they have completed their Masters Degree and in case the subject is not in the list, you can papply for the related subjects.
