To convert CGPA to percentage, multiply your CGPA by 9.5. For example, if your CGPA at the end of a semester is 8.9474, your percentage would be 85%. This formula helps you understand your performance in terms of the traditional percentage scale.

For example, to convert a 7.6 CGPA into percentage, you must multiply the same by 9.5 as given below. 

Percentage: CGPA * 9.5 = 7.6 * 9.5 = 72.2 %

However, it must be noted that some universities also recommend multiplying the CGPA with 10.0 to get the percentage. Check out which of the above two does your university accept (either 9.5 or 10) before converting your CGPA to percentage to get a better understanding.  

If your university provide your semester results in the form of percentages, then, you need to convert the percentage of your semester results into grades to send them to your desired university abroad because universities abroad require the results of your college degree in the form of a GPA or CGPA. 

Below are the steps to convert your semester percentages to a CGPA. 

1. Calculate the Grade Points for Each Semester: Each semester's percentage can be converted into a grade point using the university's accepted grading scale. For example, many universities may translate 90% and above marks to a 4.0 grade point on a 4.0 grading scale (commonly accepted by the universities abroad).
2. Calculating Weighted Grade Points: Each course has its own importance, based on which its weightage is decided upon by the university. University does it by assigning some credit points to each course. For the calculation of weighted grades for a semester, the grade points obtained in that semester are multiplied with the credit points. 
3. Calculation of SGPA: For the calculation of SGPA for a given semester, all the weighted grade points of the subjects taught in that given semester are averaged out. This is done by adding all (grade point * credit value) of all courses in the semester and dividing the sum by the total credit points involved. 
4. Calculation of CGPA: Now the CGPA is the weighted average of all the SGPAs earned across all semesters of a degree program. Hence, CGPA is calculated by dividing the total SGPAs by the total credits across all semesters. 

Let us understand this by the following example:-

Let's say a student has the following outcome of his two semesters' results:

• Semester 1: 90% (equivalent to 4.0 GPA), 15 credits

• Semester 2: 85% (equivalent to 3.5 GPA), 18 credits

• Semester 1 Weighted Grade Points: 4.0 * 15 = 60

• Semester 2 Weighted Grade Points: 3.5 * 18 = 63

• Total Weighted Grade Points: 60 + 63 = 123

• Total Credits: 15 + 18 = 33

• CGPA: 123 / 33 = 3.73 (approximately)
