Indeed, entrance exams are administered by Madras University for several courses that are provided via distance education mode. Postgraduate (PG) programs usually require the admission exam, especially for courses like M.Sc. (Nursing), MCA, and MBA. No entrance exam is necessary for admission to many undergraduate and certain graduate programs, which are determined by eligibility requirements and scores from prior qualifying exams. It provides an M.Sc in Geology. Part-time opportunities, however are not generally possible as the majority of these programs tend to be full-time as they comprise much practical component and work done in a lab setup during geology studies. The best is to ask at Madras University, whether they do have a part-time option or distance-learning possibilities open there for related areas. If part-time study is essential for you, consider exploring other universities that may provide flexible learning options or online courses in geology.

As Madras University normally admits applicants based on the merit of their qualifying examination (12th or equivalent), you can apply after completing your 12th grade at the Rural Institute of Open Schooling with a 60% score. But, as some courses could have extra prerequisites or restrictions for distance education qualifications, it's important to check with the university directly for precise eligibility criteria.
