However, the STEM courses (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) hold a slight edge along with a global prestige for Indian students.

Yes, it is not a problem for Indian students to apply for the MSc Data Science at the University of Manchester with a non CS background

However, if the student does not hold a CS degree, they will be required to apply for specific, specialised pathways and show a strong foundation in Quantitative and Computational subjects.

Manchester University offers pathways and the applicants should choose the right one. Some pathway examples are given below -

  • MSc in Data Science (Business and Management)
  • MSc Data Science (Computer Science Data Informatics)

With 85 to 90% in CBSE, you are highly competitive for the University of Manchester admissions.

This is a very good score for most Humanities, standard Science and Social Science courses, but moderately competitive for courses with high enrollment such as Computer Science, Medicine or Business.

Do not worry about extracurricular as UK universities generally do not require it.

No, for most of the MA courses at Manchester University, the work on research experience is not mandatory as an Indian student.

It is definately not always required but if an Indian student has a relevant experience, academic research or internships, they should use it in the application.
