The rankings have been provided by THE (Times Higher Education) since the year 2004. The creation of these rankings is done to know and evaluate the university's performance on the global stage and provide a comprehensive ranking report for the students to make an informed higher education decision.
For the year 2025, University of Manchester is ranked at #53 which is a decline of 2 spots, from the last year ranking of #51. These rankings for this university are fluctuating since 2023: from rank #54 in 2023 to #51 in 2024 to #53 in 2025.

ARWU, short for Academic Ranking of the World Universities also known as Shanghai Ranking is known as one of the best ranking bodies in the world. It is one of the three most influential rankings of the world alongside Times Higher Education World University Rankings and QS World University Rankings.
Over 2,500 Universities are ranked by ARWU every year. In the ARWU ranking, University of Manchester ranks at #52 in 2024, which is a decline by 11 spots form the year 2023, as this ranking was #41Times Higher Education rankings are constantly declining since 2022.

Bloomberg Ranking 2024 released its ranking for the criterion of according to which the University of Manchester ranks at #15, which is a decline form the year 2022 as this ranking was #13 in 2022.

According to the FT rankings comparison, both of the universities listed in the table below witness a downward trend, however the University of Edinburgh ranks better than the University of Manchester.
