Dear aspirant, Great interacting with you. There are roughly 200 seats in the 1st category and 100 in each of the other 4 categories in every branch. So as the students start taking admission, the seats start getting filled, starting from the first category seats, and then moving to the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th categories. So you can end up getting CSE in the 5th category even with a rank of 10k while on the other hand, you may get Civil in the first category even with a rank of 30k. Hope it helps. As you know that CSE is the most demanded branch specially in Vellore campus because CSE has better career opportunities and placements so maximum aspirants will aim to get into CSE in Vellore campus due to that CSE will be Highly demanded in Vellore. Hello! Himadri Basu, it is very nice to hear from you about enquiry of cutoff ranks or enquiry about possibilities of getting the branches you mention with ranking of about 1.2 Lacs. To put you into a proper perspective let me say that the first round closing rank for CSE was 7000 while for the other branches that you have mention it varies and is up to about 14000. This does not mean that you will not get admission, it only means that you need to wait for vacancies to arise as students who are in the better position leave for IIT or nits and then the students who have scored less get a chance for admission with lower scores. Hello Swarali Kulkarni, it's almost one year back that you posted this query. However, it came to my attention only today. My apologies on behalf of Shiksha. Com to you. Predicting admission to college and branches is really tough proposition. There are many dynamically changing variables. However, Shiksha and some other entities come out with such predictor apps. These are based on the results of previous years and hence we can deem them to be reasonably correct. You can download this and by feeding different ranks value, check the possibility of admission. This way you will come to know at what ranking admission in a particular branch and college will stop. Best wishes to you.
