The basic difference between both is that Mass Communication is a field in which Advertising and Public Relations is a sub-discipline. With Masters in mass communication, you'll have the liberty or freedom to choose any subject such as Film Making, Photography, Cinematography, Advertisement, Public Relations, Animation, etc.
Whereas with Masters in Advertising and Public Relation you'll have to study specifically in the domain of Advertising and PR. This is also applicable in the career opportunities. However, the employment options today are not limited to a specific field, you'll still get to explore various industries.
